Stay tuned for upcoming information on the September 11, 2010 NREE show!
Who Are We?
The National Radial Engine Exhibition is a static display of radial engine aircraft from the 1920's to the 1950's. The Seventh Annual NREE features a 5K Fun Run and Walk to open the day, a muscle, antique and classic car show, a classic motorcycle show, radio controlled airplane exhibitions, model rocket displays by the Northern Colorado Rocket Club, a booth from NASA honoring 50 years of the U.S. space program, breathtaking aerobatics demonstrations, a heartpounding World War II reenactment, and of course some of the era’s most impressive airplanes!
Bring your family and friends and spend the day visiting the many displays and the vendor booths that include food, crafts, aviation items, art, and more. Just remember to bring your lawn chair and sunscreen and sit back to enjoy the spectacular show we have planned for this year.
Highlights
For over 40 years pilot Walt Pierce has been wowing audiences with his Stearman, Ol’ Smokey, featuring a wingwalking act. The wingwalker will defy gravity, performing amazing stunts as the Stearman is put through its paces.
The Heritage Flight featuring the F16 Fighting Falcon (Air Combat Command) demonstration team and Dan Friedkin in his P-51 Mustang is always a crowd-pleaser, showcasing military aircraft from two very different eras.
Since 1991, Don Nelson and his Sukhoi SU-26 have been thrilling airshow fans with one of the best high performance aerobatics acts around. Don is a returning performer at the NREE, and is always an audience favorite.
Veterans are honored throughout the event. A movie-quality World War II reenactment featuring reenactors from the “6th Division (1940-1941)” based in Cheyenne, Wyoming and spectacular special effects from Angel Light Pyrotechnics closes the show with a special tribute to “The Greatest Generation.”
The NREE has partnered with a coalition of regional veterans groups from northeast Colorado, the panhandle of Nebraska, and northwest Kansas, organized under the name CO-NE-KA. A portion of the proceeds from the NREE will be donated to CO-NE-KA to be used to provide services, such as medical transportation, to veterans who live in these areas.
Joe Thibodeau will add his Hawker Seafury to both the World War II reenactment and the Heritage Flight, delighting audiences with this exciting airplane.
